Buying a Plot in Advance
At a Nature Reserve Burial Grounds site, such as Sun Rising in south Warwickshire, it is possible to purchase a grave plot in advance. When you do so, you are given a Licence certificate. This entitles you to be buried, or nominate someone else to be buried, at the burial ground.
We ask all Licence holders to keep in touch with us. If we have not heard a peep from a holder for 20 years, we shall assume they do not wish to use the plot.
After 20 years, the licence can be renewed at no extra cost if you still anticipate wishing to use the plot in the future.
Although usually a specific plot cannot be reserved when you are buying in advance, we encourage you to choose whether you’d like to be buried in the woodland or meadow area. Family plots are available at Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground. Furthermore, in Family plots and Meadow areas, it is possible to reserve a plot beside someone already buried at the site.
Up to six cremated remains burials are allowed in one meadow grave plot, or two in a woodland cremated remains plot, and these can also be bought in advance.
NB: memorial or interment fees cannot be paid in advance.
