Interring Cremated Remains
Cremated remains can be interred at a Nature Reserve Burial Grounds site, such as Sun Rising in south Warwickshire. More information can be found here.
The plastic urns provided by a crematorium cannot be interred; also many of the wooden boxes provided by funeral directors are not solid wood, the ashes having been transferred to a plastic bag inside.
Beautifully made environmentally-friendly and biodegradable boxes and urns can be bought through us or your funeral director for interment at a natural burial ground. Suppliers can also be found on this page. However, no container is necessary: you can choose to place the ashes directly into the grave.
Scattering cremated remains is not permitted. Because we are creating a nature reserve, we must be very aware of the pH and fertility of the soil; scattering ashes can be detrimental to necessary ecological balance.
The urn pictured is an Acorn made by Ecopod.
