Oak and Orchid

Parkland Memorial Oaks

An English oak can be planted at Sun Rising in memory of a loved one, whether that person is buried at the site or not.

These oaks can be planted in the woodland areas, where they will become a natural part of a copse, with an understory of smaller woodland trees and shrubs.

However, an oak can also be planted in the meadow or around the Roundhouse, where it can grow to its full glory without competition from other trees.  These we call Parkland Oaks, and they are guaranteed for fifty years: if one fails within that time, it will be replaced free of charge.

The photo on this page is of an oak around four years old. You might see the pink flower of the common spotted orchid in the grass beside it and the slate memorial plaque at its base.
