Burial in Family Plots
Sometimes a spouse, loved ones or other family members wish to be buried beside each other, and at a woodland burial ground this can be difficult; digging a grave beside a tree may damage its roots, perhaps fatally. Furthermore, at many natural burial grounds, there are no 'double graves', where a grave is reopened for another be buried on top.
This is also true at Sun Rising. However, there are a number of ways that adjacent plots can be reserved to allow individuals to be buried beside their loved ones.
First of all, the option is available anywhere in the meadow areas. When one person is buried in the meadow, adjoining graves can be bought and reserved to allow burial side by side.
In the woodland areas, special plots are put aside, known as Family Woodland Areas. Here trees will only be planted once all the graves are full. An area may have more than just one family's graves in it, so it may be some years before trees are planted. However, this allows for a 'woodland' burial, without risk of damaging growing trees: the woodland is simply planted a little later.
